Decorex 2023
As Decorex, Africa’s leading decor and design platform, celebrates its 30th anniversary, event organiser RX Africa will, for the first time, bring Decorex Cape Town and Joburg, 100% Design Africa and Design Joburg together for the biggest showcase of African and South African design on the continent.
The coming together of the three brands means a truly immersive experience as decor and design enthusiasts will be treated to an unprecedented display of creativity, inspiration and talent across two cities.
Decorex Cape Town and 100% Design Africa will return to the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 22 - 25 June 2023, while Decorex Joburg, 100% Design Africa and Design Joburg will run simultaneously at the Sandton Convention Centre from 3 - 6 August 2023. The all-new Cape Town Decor & Design Week (19-25 June) and Joburg Decor & Design Week (31 July - 6 August) will run simultaneously with Decorex in each city, with events centred around the main design districts in each metropolis.
What to expect
Decorex Cape Town and Joburg, 100% Design and Design Joburg will bring together over 700 brands nationally, and will offer a host of special features, including curated exhibitions, eateries, bars and product launches.
An exciting addition to the event is Future of Design Studio, an open area for informal collaborative workshops and dialogues, where a stellar line-up of SA’s most respected design authorities will deliver talks on some of the most compelling issues currently facing the design industry. The speaker line-up and topics for Future Talks will be announced closer to the event. Another highlight is the Sustainability Feature, which will explore responsible and sustainable design.
The programmes for the cities’ inaugural decor and design weeks will be jam-packed with a multi-destination line-up of events, openings, launches, open showrooms and studios, expert-led talks and walkabouts, offering the opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with some of South Africa’s most respected and compelling talents. Not only will it be a showcase of local design excellence, but will create the conditions for networking, collaboration and discovery like no other event before it.
“The amalgamated programmes not only mean a bigger and better dynamic design platform but are also sure to set the high-water mark for the African design community,” says Sandra Barrow, Portfolio Director of Lifestyle, Design and Retail. “By providing an unmatched arena in which all design professionals and enthusiasts can discover new possibilities, we are able to fully showcase and leverage our continent’s creativity.”
