Cartier - The Culture of Design

The Cartier Tank, Trinity, Juste un Clou, Santos, Love, Panthère, Ballon Blue. Instantly recognizable - the uncompromising clean and precise design behind Cartier. The brilliance of ideas and flawless design thereof, is what makes us desire their creations.

Cartier’s designs are reduced to its purest form. And this requires the highest level of expertise. What can be created with a square? A circle? An oval? A rectangle? Cartier seeks out the answers by adding perspective, depth and to reinvent, still adding movement. The proportions should be ergonomic, wearing each item should feel in complete harmony with your body.

The Trinity ring was developed by Louis Cartier in 1924, three rings making up a single statement of eternal love.

But Love is also expressed in the 1969 Cartier design, a special screwdriver is needed to remove this bracelet from your arm. A revolutionary idea, exceptional in every way.

In 1917, Louis Cartier took purity of line as his inspiration. Two parallel brandcards have make up the signature Tank design.

Created in 1904, the Santos was created when the commonly used pocket watch was round. Cartier created a square watch, taking an element which was usually hidden, the screws, and making them the iconic authentic code of this collection.

Once again, a simple form was taken by designer Aldo Cipullo in 1970- the basic nail was tuned into Juste un Clou, one of todays most sought after jewelry pieces.

The Ballon Bleu was created in 2007, new visions of roundness, with a domed sapphire crystal winding crown perfectly integrated into the shape, a metal cap protecting the hoop at three o’clock.

From when the Panthère was created in 1983, it is was designed to be a piece of art. Ultra-flexible, mirroring the movements of Cartier’s emblematic animal, the panther.
