Hermès -The new Cape Cod

Cape Cod — Time as Object

Designed in 1991 by Henri d’Origny, the Cape Cod watch unveiled a bold “square within a rectangle” form inspired by the anchor‑chain link. It embodied a free‑spirited, joyful approach to time, and in its latest revisited version, Hermès brings that creative heritage into dialogue with a resolutely contemporary aesthetic.

The new Cape Cod features a 41 mm titanium case, satin‑finished on top with bead‑blasted sides, water‑resistant to 10 bar. Its black dial plays with light and texture: a sandblasted centre, satin‑brushed outer ring, rhodium‑plated numerals and baton hands coated with Super‑LumiNova®, and a vibrant orange seconds hand that adds a sunny touch. Inside beats the Manufacture Hermès H1912 self‑winding movement, driving hours, minutes, seconds, and a date display at 6 o’clock with a 45‑hour power reserve.

Rubber straps in jaune de Naples, orange, bleu abysse, or black echo the call of the open sea, reinforcing the watch’s relaxed spirit. Each detail reflects Hermès’ philosophy: objects shaped by artisans to become true companions, radiating the lightness of the unexpected. For Hermès, time is not simply measured — it is explored, refracted, and transformed into emotion. The Cape Cod continues this journey, daring to create spaces for spontaneity and recreation, where every instant becomes uniquely special.
