McIntosh Unveils One-of-a-Kind Amplifier for the Virgil Abloh: The Codes Exhibition at Paris Fashion Week

Today, McIntosh, a global leader in handcrafted audio, announces its participation in the highly-anticipated “Virgil Abloh: The Codes” exhibit presented by the Virgil Abloh ArchiveTM. Taking place at the historic Grand Palais during Paris Fashion Week, the exhibit will feature a one-of-a-kind McIntosh MA8950 x Virgil Abloh Integrated Amplifier – making its public debut alongside a collection of objects from Virgil’s creative practice, spanning fashion, design, music, and art.

Virgil Abloh developed an artistic proposal for the brand in early 2020. His vision was brought to life by the McIntosh team in an amplifier specially designed for the exhibition to honor his legacy and our shared belief that sound and design are inseparable cultural forces. Music was central to Virgil’s creative practice – shaping ideas, giving life to design, and inspiring the legacy seen today.

Built on the acclaimed MA8950 and finished in bold orange – a color he used to signify energy, creativity, and disruption – the amplifier reimagines McIntosh’s iconic aesthetic. Link to imagery here.

Open today and available to the public through October 9th, the exhibit not only honors Virgil’s enduring influence but also reinforces McIntosh’s role in shaping the future of sound, design, and creative expression. More than an amplifier, it stands as a continuation of Virgil’s story: his love for music, and his belief that design and sound together have the power to advance culture.
