We drove the Citroën C5 AirCross to Brahman Hills
When lockdown reached the Midlands in Kwazulu Natal, the staff of Braham Hills stayed on and tackled a spectacular mission: to create a sculpture garden that not only delights the eye, but also serves as a vegetable and herb garden for the newly launched restaurant at the hotel, Skyfall. The result is a spectacular, so much so that it is has been included in Royal Horticultural Society.
The mix of textures and colours - coupled with a misty day that the Midlands often serves in summer, feels otherworldly. It is a stop between Johannesburg and Durban that is well worth the time.
Tyron Selmon from Art Eye was given the task to place specially selected South African sculptures in the garden. He says, “Sculpture is tactile , heavy , faceted , strong and grounded. It engages us all differently . It has been a great privilege to find the perfect works of art by some of our countries most exceptionally talented artists . Some well known , some becoming well known . As we move through the this ever changing world , its important to reconnect with the earth , thus the spectacular gardens at Brahman Hills have allowed us to connect culturally through the arts. A special place , created by special people , for the people .”
The Dossier team had the perfect car to travel to the Midlands, the Citroën C5 AirCross. We had the Shine Model which features top spec 18 inch diamond-cut wheels, and two-tone black roof bars.
Dossier loves Citroën, the quirky and often radical design features, makes for a car that stands out on the roads. The C5 is a bit more subdued that previous models we test drove. It is a solid, comfortable drive. The comfort is emphasised by the hydraulic cushion suspension- which is exclusive to Citroën.
Interior styling is refines with premium materials, soft to the touch Alcantara leather can be found between perforated leather upholstery. Six hours in the car, feels like a breeze. This is also due to the 20 benchmark driver-assistance systems which makes for a stress free and safe trip. Highway driver assist, active lane warning systems and adaptive cruise control is just part of the many features which makes this the car that will take you from traffic to open road in leisure.
