It all started in 2024 when I stumbled across a duo on Instagram who had me absolutely gagged. Their razor-sharp commentary, deep dives into luxury archives, and impeccable vintage finds were more than just content - they were a masterclass in fashion history, wrapped in wit and charm. From the first reel, I was hooked. The minute I got my hands on the Dossier editorial calendar, I knew I had to lock them in for a feature. So, without further ado, let’s talk about THE duo making fashion both smarter and more fun: Jasmina & DAAAAAAYVIIID.
Jasmina: The Art of Fashion Detective Work
For Jasmina, fashion isn’t just about clothes - it’s an intricate puzzle of eras, influences, and cultural shifts waiting to be pieced together. A designer with over 12 years of experience, she approaches fashion like a detective, tracing the lineage of garments from archival masterpieces to contemporary collections. Whether she’s dissecting the origins of a Dior silhouette or curating a wardrobe that seamlessly blends vintage treasures with modern essentials, she thrives on discovery.
Her love for fashion started young, watching her mother - whom she describes as the epitome of glamour - get ready for nights out. That early influence shaped her eye for elegance, but her personal style refuses to be boxed in. “I don’t have one narrow aesthetic I gravitate to - I’m all over the place, and that helps keep things interesting,” she says.
But make no mistake, Jasmina doesn’t just love fashion - she holds it to a standard. She’s selective about partnerships, refusing to align with brands that don’t match her ethos. “We keep it real by only working with brands that align with our values,” she asserts. Sustainability isn’t a buzzword to her - it’s a lifestyle. “If I can’t convince myself that a piece is a real need in my closet, I pass,” she adds.
Initially, her online presence focused on Los Angeles street style, but the real magic happened when she and David pivoted to archival deep dives and luxury market analysis. “It’s like fashion detective work,” she says. “We’re not just researching random facts - we’re making connections between what’s in stores now and its historical roots.”
As someone who seamlessly juggles design, content creation, and curation, Jasmina has one golden rule for aspiring creatives: “Focus on the making, not just the finished product. Don’t obsess over perfection - it’ll never be perfect. You’ll get much better results by constantly iterating and refining.”
Fashion with a Wink: David’s Mission to Make Luxury More Playful
David’s obsession with fashion was sparked by the unfiltered drama of 90’s couture - Galliano, McQueen, the larger-than-life energy of Miss Piggy and Dolly Parton, and those unforgettable VH1 fashion specials. That early fascination led to a career in design, giving him the technical eye to analyse luxury beyond the aesthetic. “We’re not just saying, ‘this is cute’ or ‘this is ugly’ - we’re breaking down why that seam is puckering or how that drape was achieved,” he explains. “It’s like having X-ray vision for clothes.”
His collaboration with Jasmina on JasminaTV was a direct result of the pandemic - a shift from traditional design into content creation. Their mission? To strip fashion of its exclusivity and inject it with the humour and curiosity that first captivated them. Whether they’re dissecting construction techniques, hunting for archival treasures, or strolling into luxury boutiques with unfiltered curiosity, they make high fashion accessible. “Too many people think high fashion is just blank-faced models and intimidating boutiques. We barge into those sacred spaces and ask the questions everyone’s thinking but afraid to say out loud - like, ‘Does this purse fit a phone?’”
Vintage holds a special place in David’s heart, not just for its craftsmanship, but for the thrill of the hunt. “Finding that perfect 70’s blazer feels like winning the lottery,” he shares. “The magic happens when you mix that one-of-a-kind vintage find with something current - like pairing a structured 80’s power jacket with slouchy modern jeans. It’s fashion alchemy.” His styling approach blends nostalgia and modernity, proving that luxury should be fun, not precious.
To wrap things up, we couldn’t resist a few quick-fire questions with Jasmina & David - because who better to decode the world of luxury and vintage?
Q: Your shopping vlogs often feature luxury brands like Chanel and Saint Laurent. What draws you to these brands, and how do you integrate them into your personal style?
A: Brands like YSL or Chanel are cornerstones of the industry. We're drawn to them because of their scale and influence - what they do has far-reaching relevance.
Q: Your content often includes historical references in fashion. How do you research and select the historical elements you present to your audience?
A: We only research based on what we see in stores or archives - I’m not just randomly looking up fashion history. If I see a Dior dress that reminds me of an earlier iteration, that’s the kind of research we’ll pull. It’s like fashion detective work, connecting the dots between what’s in stores now and their ancestors.
Q: Balancing content creation, fashion design, and personal life can be challenging. How do you manage your time and stay inspired across all these areas?
A: It's a struggle! We are always inspired, so managing the time to record and edit it all is what becomes the challenge.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring fashion influencers and designers looking to establish their unique voice in the industry?
A: Focus on the making, not just the finished product. Don’t worry about making anything perfect - it’ll never be perfect. You’ll get much better results if you keep iterating and refining.
Q: Your partnership with Jasmina is central to JasminaTV. What do you believe makes your collaboration successful?
A: I think most important is that we are astrologically compatible - she’s a Pisces, I’m a Gemini! We share a similar aesthetic but have slightly different takes, so while we mostly agree, our perspectives bring interesting discussions.
Q: What’s been one of your most memorable fashion discoveries?
A: Holding the ludicrously capacious Chanel SS13 Hula Hoop bag at Pechuga Vintage. It’s nearly three feet wide - the largest Chanel bag I’ve ever seen! Another standout? A custom Chanel haute couture leather jacket Karl Lagerfeld made for André Leon Talley.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring fashion content creators?
A: Embrace your specific fashion obsessions, no matter how niche or weird they seem. The industry doesn’t need more beige luxury hauls - it needs fresh perspectives. Find your fashion freaks and feed them content they didn’t even know they were craving!
Next on the horizon for Jasmina and David - is expanding JasminaTVto a global audience, with Tokyo at the top of the list. “There’s just so much shopping there! We’re also dying to visit Australia, Korea, and China.” The duo’s signature mix of fashion expertise, wit, and storytelling is bound to make their international deep dive as entertaining as it is insightful.
