Tell us about the thought behind the name Kindred?
An ethical handmade jewellery company inspired by the mystery and majesty of Africa, a tribe, a family, togetherness, connection, relationships and kindness. Our brand represents our quest for beauty in all its forms.
What is your manufacture philosophy?
Every detail of every piece is lovingly considered and planned, which means you get to see and feel everything we put into our work. All handmade and each one beautiful because of its imperfection.
Who produces the bracelets?
African ladies who’s braiding skills have been passed down from generation to generation.
Tell us more about the products you use?
We source ethically produced reindeer leather as well as lambs leather from Scandinavia. We use freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones and Swarovski crystals. Finally gold and pewter wire are used, in a technique that goes back centuries.
Behind the brand, there is of course you - artist, baker, entrepreneur, all round creative mind. What what your first business venture?
Cordon Bleu trained, where I started out in a restaurant to eventually owning my own in the early 90’s, to manufacturing hand finished picture frames for export. This fueled my passion for beautifully made things - I started manufacturing my jewellery under the Lianne Landman Collection consolidating and refining into Kindred.
What is your ultimate dream for the brand?
To help bring the people of the world together in kindred spirit in a common celebration of life.
