LMC: Where Luxury Meets Legacy - A Festival of Conscience, Creativity, and Style
Editor: Margo Fargo – Contributing Editor – Legacy & Sustainability
We’re taking a closer look at The Luxurious Marble Circus, the festival that fuses so much more than exquisite experiences with food, fashion and music. Beyond its spectacular entertainment, the event is a thoughtfully curated ‘opulenza’ that champions sustainability and seeks to leave a legacy beyond luxury.
On the 4th and 5th of October 2025, The Luxurious Marble Circus (LMC), in collaboration with Investec, returns to the social calendar, not merely as a spectacle of decadence but as a crafted celebration of fashion, food, and future thinking. Draped in opulence yet anchored in purpose, this year’s edition promises its signature "Goosebump Moments" while weaving a narrative of purpose-driven intention into every layer of the experience.
In my conversation with Greg Walsh, the visionary behind G&G – The Goosebumps Company, and a key collaborator of LMC, it became clear that this is no ordinary festival. “This year, we’re not just managing impact, we’re hoping to redefine what sustainability at a festival looks like,” he said, his words as bold as the outfits that guests so daringly and dazzlingly display. The inspiration came through Investec’s challenge: to ensure luxury and legacy coexist. The result is a festival that leans on four guiding principles - addressing consumption, igniting creativity, celebrating fashion, and reimagining waste management.
By placing purpose at the heart of the Luxurious Marble Circus experience, Investec inspired all involved to think differently about what it means to show up, to invest in community, and to lead. And together, they are rewriting the role of how impact-led partnerships can look.
Last year, LMC diverted 51% of its waste from landfills. This year, they’ve raised the bar to 70%. With well-communicated intentions encouraging guests to participate, partnerships with the African Reclaimers Organisation, and a detailed post-event impact report, the festival is pushing the boundaries of what luxury with conscience looks like and setting a benchmark for festivals across the country. Add to that a commitment of over R1.5 million to social initiatives this year alone, and it becomes evident that glamour can indeed have a greater purpose.
At the intersection of artistry and sustainability lies the collaboration with LMC and the National School of Arts. Smita Narsi, a driving force in the legacy team, shared her excitement about this partnership, which not only gives students the opportunity to perform on the main stage, but to engage in a Trash to Treasure initiative that paired Grade 9 students with a local artist to transform old cans into sculptures, jewelry and mixed art pieces. Similarly, 2024 fence wraps have been repurposed into beautiful tote and cross-body bags with Legacy partner Sealand, and a Vega student will secure a year’s internship, working closely with the team to curate the 2026 event.
“It’s about more than art and creativity - it’s about storytelling, celebrating local talent, finding treasure in what others would consider trash, and providing incredible opportunities to students who are passionate about the world that we have so wonderfully created,” Narsi told me. A perfect example of how the festival is blending creativity with community and purpose.
Fashion shines through a collaboration with South African denim house TSHEPO which was announced by Dossier earlier this month. The collaboration introduces the Kingmaster collection - an imaginative capsule collection with a blend of denim heritage and circus theatrics that celebrates individuality and storytelling. The range spans playful ready-to-wear pieces to a couture line designed by emerging talent Naledi Dlamini, reflecting both spectacle and mentorship. Guests can discover the full range at The Emporium alongside exclusive LMC apparel and sustainable designs, or at TSHEPO stores and online, extending the festival’s spirit beyond the weekend.
When it comes to food, LMC Legacy is giving back through beneficiary partner Holanathi, who provide nutritious meals to children all over the country, ‘because where good goes, good grows.’ In addition, a significant investment is being made to Food & Trees for Africa to fund the infrastructure and expansion of a community food garden, not only providing produce to local communities but with the aim that this produce will go from garden to plate at future LMC events.
Investec’s perspective is equally powerful. Maxine Gray, Head of Strategy and Implementation at Investec Wealth & Investment International, reminded me that partnerships like these aren’t about logos on banners - they’re about vision. “Led by Investec’s support, The Luxurious Marble Circus is positioned to leave a purposeful mark across every sphere it engages with - from hospitality and food to the arts, fashion, and the wider creative industries,” she said. For her, every collaborator is a catalyst, every detail an act of legacy. In her words: “sustainability isn’t the fine print - it’s the headline. True impact lies in choosing to lead with purpose, to elevate others, and to quietly shape the future in ways that matter”.
Despite the powerful purpose underpinning it, LMC hasn’t lost its allure. Guests can expect to be dazzled by avant-garde fashion installations, culinary artistry from South Africa’s most inventive chefs, and immersive performances designed to elicit awe. Walsh’s "Goosebump Moments" are carefully choreographed to linger, ensuring every guest departs with more than just memories - they leave with a feeling of something totally Out of the Ordinarious.
Walking away from these conversations, one thing became clear: The Luxurious Marble Circus is not only about what we see and taste, but also what we leave behind. By rethinking indulgence as an opportunity to give back - to the planet, to communities, to creativity itself - this festival has elevated an exquisite event into a powerful statement.
To Maxine’s point; “To be Out of the Ordinary is to look beyond what is and see what could be. It’s recognising that real change doesn’t come from spectacle, but from consistent, intentional action - the kind that leaves a sustainable mark.”
This October, prepare to be immersed in beauty, intention, and wonder. It is in this fusion of sustainable innovation and purposeful creativity that the Luxurious Marble Circus leaves its true mark - an event designed not just to inspire awe in the moment, but to set a benchmark for sustainability, empower communities, and nurture a legacy that endures well beyond the festival itself.
