Louis Vuitton Escale
A decade of travel, a rebirth of time
In spring 2024, Louis Vuitton’s Escale journeyed through the realms of artisanal craftsmanship with the Cabinet of Wonders, a trilogy of métiers d’art timepieces inspired by Gaston‑Louis Vuitton’s collections. Now, on the occasion of the Escale’s tenth anniversary, the Maison reveals a new cartography of the collection: a time‑only, three‑hand model that distills the essence of hours, minutes, and seconds into a pure expression of horology.
The latest Escale is defined by tactile surfaces, elevated case design, and sophisticated finishes, powered by the chronometer‑certified cal. LFT023. The movement itself tells the time, with a flying carousel for minutes and a rotating disc for hours, while a titanium seconds hand curves precisely to the dial’s camber, ensuring accuracy and elegance.
Four new models mark this rebirth. Two rose‑gold versions feature textured dials referencing the supple grain of Louis Vuitton’s Monogram canvas, discreet companions for everyday wear. Two platinum editions exalt the collection with rare materials: one with meteorite dial, another with onyx centre framed by baguette‑cut diamonds. Each piece is engraved with a serial number plate riveted to the caseback, echoing the Maison’s trunks and reinforcing the sensory link between watch and heritage.
Design details anchor the Escale to Louis Vuitton’s savoir‑faire. Lugs resemble the riveted corners of trunks, while gold studs punctuate the minuterie like nails along lozine. The octagonal crown, topped with a dome, recalls a trunk rivet, and alternating finishes across case surfaces demand the hand of master artisans. Paris, inscribed beneath the logo, signals the Maison’s creative rebirth and its couture lineage.
The rose‑gold Escale comes on a calf‑leather strap inspired by Nomade leather, destined to patinate beautifully over time. In platinum, lapidary work and gem‑setting elevate the collection into rarefied territory, a monochromatic symphony of light and shade.
Escale remains synonymous with the art of travel. More than a stopover, it is a philosophy: the journey itself becomes the destination. Through its reimagined form, Escale defines time as personal territory, a landscape of discovery shaped by craftsmanship, heritage, and imagination.
