Ludovic de Saint Sernin's new Zara collaboration
Ludovic de Saint Sernin's new Zara collaboration collection spans womenswear, menswear, accessories, and a full beauty line—marking the first time the Paris-based designer has made his work broadly accessible after eight years building his luxury brand.
The designs pull from multiple eras of New York culture: the raw sexuality of the 1970s downtown scene (think Robert Mapplethorpe), the bold glamour of the 1980s, the polished sensuality of the 1990s, and the relaxed vibe of the early 2000s. These influences show up throughout the collection's slinky, body-conscious pieces.
The beauty range is notably comprehensive, matching the quality of Zara's Guido Palau haircare line. It includes a moisturizer and skincare tools for prep, along with a dual-wand mascara, lightweight but high-coverage foundation, hydrating lip gloss, and metallic color sticks for eyes and lips. The makeup aims for a fresh-faced, natural look that works with the collection's sleek fashion pieces.
For de Saint Sernin, who shopped at Zara growing up, the partnership is personal. He sees it as creating a "perfect wardrobe" with strong quality that's now accessible worldwide—essentially democratizing the aesthetic he's developed in the luxury space.
