Maison Ruinart Metamorphosed
AFTER 3 YEARS OF RENOVATION WORK, MAISON RUINART’S EMBLEMATIC ADDRESS HAS BEEN METAMORPHOSED
Located in the heart of a region renowned for its winemaking expertise, Maison Ruinart fosters dialogue and encounters. Whether relating wine, art or gastronomy, each experience sheds new light on centuries-old heritage, combining nature and culture, pleasure and savoir-faire. Inspiration and conversation are never far away.
4 RUE DES CRAYÈRES has been open for many generations, shaped by the different influences sweeping through the Champagne region and the world. At this unique address in Reims, the creativity, know-how and cultural terroir of the world’s oldest champagnehouse have taken root and flourished in harmony with nature.
To bring this metamorphosis to life, Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, interior designer Gwenaël Nicolas and landscape artist Christophe Gautrand fused their talents to interpret and share the vision of Nicolas Ruinart – who founded the first champagne house in Reims almost 300 years ago. Opposite the centuries-old buildings now stands a contemporary pavilion made from stone and glass. Encased by a freely accessible sculpture garden and designed as a haven for local biodiversity, 4 RUE DES CRAYÈRES plunges visitors into the sensorial, inspiring world of champagne.
Cultivating conversations that are both timeless and contemporary, 4 RUE DES CRAYÈRES brings together artisans, artists, chefs and visitors to share exceptional moments. Encounters and exchanges provide the opportunity for us to reconnect with ourselves, the world and those around us. These enlightened experiences make 4 RUE DES CRAYÈRES much more than an address. It is a destination.
Respecting heritage while also looking to the future, the site reflects the Maison’s commitment to perpetuating tradition and modernity in perfect harmony.
“4 RUE DES CRAYÈRES, the quintessence
of the Ruinart spirit, has been metamorphosed to embody the Maison’s vision. Tradition
and modernity coexist harmoniously in this historic setting where nature, culture,
heritage and savoir-faire weave together.” Frédéric Dufour President, Maison Ruinart
“In gardens, we encounter and connect
with nature. Here, the history of Ruinart and the Champagne region is reflected in every detail of the landscaping. It is a garden
to explore and experience that reveals
the spirit of Ruinart. The exterior spaces form a scenographic path that awakens
the senses and generates emotion.”

SAVOURING THE MOMENT AT BAR BY RUINART
More than just an address, 4 RUE DES CRAYÈRES first and foremost embodies a conscious art of living. Gastronomy takes pride of place and is a means of expression in which beauty and taste coexist in harmony.
Bar by Ruinart invites visitors to experience Maison Ruinart’s savoir-faire through new gastronomic experiences. Leaning against the counter under the glass bubbles sculpted by Atelier Barrois or sitting by the cork oaks on the shady terrace, visitors rediscover Ruinart cuvées, from the best-known to the rarest Dom Ruinart vintages.
The drinks menu also showcases still wines and original champagne cocktails imagined by Maison Cravan – like Royal Shiso with Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and green shiso leaves or the classic French 75 featuring Agastache gin, absinthe and R de Ruinart.
Or you could enjoy sweet and savoury culinary delights signed by chef-in-residence Valérie Radou. Simple recipes and careful combinations evolve according to the season and products available. Vegetable, meat and fish dishes are transformed into velouté, ceviche, tataki and gravelax for lunch or dinner.
In the afternoon, non-stop until the evening, the bar transforms into a dessert counter, ladened with sharing tarts and cakes.
The tableware recalls the Maison's roots in the Champagne region. Ceramic designer Inès Waris shaped the plates in her workshop in Avize – on the Côte des Blancs laced with chardonnay vines. Duo Claire Lange and Lucie Roy from Ilaké-atelier de verre have designed a glass plate that reproduces the chardonnay leaf, the signature of the Maison’s wines, in a subtle play of transparencies.
In this contemporary space, glass, wood and discreet touches of green invite you to look out onto the verdant terrace. The large bay window blurs the boundary between inside and outside.
LE 4 RUE DES CRAYÈRES will unveil its metamorphosis from 5 October 2024 (inaugural weekend on 5-6 October).
