Peter Lindbergh RIP
Today we say good bye to a photographic hero. An inspiration from when he first started shooting in the 60’s. He has always stood by his photographic style, never deviating from the true and gritty way he saw the world. The legacy he leaves is one of huge respect for women, of every age. He did not retouch. He showed beauty as it was. In our filtered selfie age, he stood strong that women should be captured in a real and truthful way.
“It should be a duty for every photographer working today to use [their] creativity and influence to free women and finally everyone from the fervour of youth and perfection,” said Lindbergh.
“Most of the fashion-related media today prefer to take away the identity and experiences of their protagonists – your poetry and all the small imperfections, the signs of your own life supposed to be there to tell your story – and replace it with senseless perfection,” Lindbergh said.
He will be sorely missed. Herewith some of his captivating portraits.
