Sandile Mahlangu arrived more than an hour early for the shoot at the newly launched Steyn City Saxon Hotel. He is best known for roles like Sbu Twala in Netflix’s How to Ruin Christmas series and Simo Shabangu in Scandal!. His breakout role as Siya in Single Guys and appearances in shows like Rhythm City and films like Shaft 6 have made him a household name.

So I rushed to get to the hotel, how can I let our star of the show wait alone? In the shades of greens of the decor at the hotel, he was sitting at the back, drinking water, part of a weekly cleanse, he tells. He does look vibrant. We easily fall into conversation that touched on aliens and Hollywood and POLITIX and his respect for his mama. This charming man is shooting a high-octane action telenovela, Empini, at the moment and next stars in the Netflix film Lobola Man. Outside of acting, he owns a fashion label called SANDU, showcasing his versatility in business and the arts.

The hotel rooms are perfect for gentlemen such as Sandile. There is space for everything from small business meetings, to running or going for a walk in the secure estate, well, you can even relax by the biggest swimming pool our eyes have seen. The hotel suites all have kitchenettes, making it a great longer stay option. Sandile’s calm charm in the green luxury of the Steyn City Saxon, made for a perfect way to launch POLITIX in South Africa.
