Sandringham: A New Story Is Being Written by the Sabi Sabi Collection

Over the past five years, the Sabi Sabi Collection has quietly been stirring a once-forgotten wilderness back into life and now, Sandringham Private Game Reserve is set to welcome its first guests with stories of survival, resilience and, in its darker chapters, the impact of human interference. Situated along the Timbavati River and bordering the Timbavati and Thornybush Game Reserves, this new addition to the Sabi Sabi Collection has been restored to what it was always meant to be: a place where nature thrives on its own terms; not at the will of mankind.

Launching in August 2026, Sandringham Private Game Reserve will boast two luxury safari camps: N’weti Camp and Shisaka Camp - each with six suites, with Shisaka Camp also offering two villas. In addition, there will also be an exclusive-use, fully serviced, four-bedroom villa - Sandringham House - perfect for multi-generational groups. From old-world charm with safari-style tented appeal, to carefully designed nests within a magical Tamboti forest, guests can expect high-end accommodation and elevated experiences.

Sabi Sabi Collection’s Managing Director, Rod Wyndham says: “It’s probably the last piece of great African bushveld - part of the Greater Kruger - that one could get hold of.” He adds that a significant amount of money has been invested to transform the reserve - traditionally used for hunting - back into an eco-tourism venture that will attract both local and international travellers to explore this beautiful part of the country in the comfort of the high-end hospitality Sabi Sabi is renowned for. “To have watched the wildlife rehabilitate; to understand that their environment is no longer a threat, that’s what we’re all about and that’s what we’ve created our product over the last forty odd years,” he adds.

Sandringham Private Game Reserve has partnered with the Tracker Training Academy on a training initiative that is helping youth from the surrounding communities become trackers. “We’ve also opened up to Bushwise, which is our collective training partner with the Ranger Training Academy, as well as Wild Earth,” Wyndham says.

Whilst the Kruger National Park and the Greater Kruger are exciting to go to at any time of the year, Wyndham says Sandringham Private Game Reserve brings something unique to the safari scene. “When you arrive, you are greeted by this massive expanse of water. We’re very fortunate that we have a large dam on the Timbavati River – one of the main perennial rivers that flow through the Kruger National Park – and the views on that river are spectacular. Especially with the backdrop of the Drakensberg directly behind it. There is a feeling of tranquillity the second you arrive.”

From big herds of elephant, incredible birdlife and the sound of the bush, Sandringham is a nature lover’s paradise. It will also be the ideal safari experience for people who enjoy walking. “I will still maintain that the safari experiences will be equal to what can be had in the Sabi Sands,” Wyndham says. At Sandringham, the added bonus of walking safaris will bring guests even closer to nature, with eight major drainage lines on the property, as well as beautiful trees, breeding vulture colonies and more to explore.

Wyndham says the Sabi Sabi Collection has ensured that the brand’s world-class hospitality and safari experiences get carried across to the new venture. “We have a very strong ethos around us caring about our environment, about the people who work for us, about the guests we entertain, and the wildlife that we look after.”

The luxury safari experiences to be had at Sandringham Private Game Reserve are set to usher in a new chapter for a landscape once diminished by human impact. Here, it will be all about people, place and the protection of our environment.
