Battiss in your home

Dossier has always been a great fan of Walter Battiss. We are so excited that his art is now available to all. In celebration of one of the leading artists of the twenty-first century and of South Africa, the Walter Battiss Company offers a carefully curated collection of Walter Battiss’ works.

Available in an inspiring variety of media ranging from print and wallpaper to ceramics, jewellery,  textile, Loungewear and a range of cotton sarongs and Modal Cashmere scarves ; this is the first time that Battiss’ works are readily available to the public. The collection bears testimony to various artistic phases of Battiss’ life and illustrious career as the so-called ‘gentle rebel’.

The company is owned and operated as a family business by Eduard du Plessis who manages the Walter Battiss copyright in respect of all his artworks created nationally and internationally on behalf of the Trust.

The Walter Battiss Company was founded in 2015 with a vision to embrace the reproduction of original Battiss artworks making it more readily available to art lovers and the public at large across the world at affordable prices.

The Walter Battiss Corporate Identity is derived from one of his artworks entitled “Desert”. The red with blue outline angel picking the fruit of the desert makes the brand (logo) colourful and playful, both elements which Walter Battiss enjoyed and is known for.

The logo is easily recognised and is endorsed with the original Walter Battiss signature. The signature also endorses all products as a stamp of approval.

There is a hint of Bushman Art in the painting which is reminiscent of Battiss who embraced the Bushman art and culture in his art.
