The Future Of Fashion Editorials

The Future Of Fashion Editorials

What will fashion editorials look like in the near future? For the next few months, we certainly will not be seeing exotic location shoots. Just a few days ago, big teams of stylists could be gathered and models could be flown in. Is it the end of fashion photography as we know it? Are we going to be bombarded with digitally created imagery with AI models? Or is it an opportunity for real talent to shine? Shaking off the Instagramers and getting back to good, solid photographers to show us something unique? The inundation of images in the past few years has watered down fashion editorials. Fashion shows with rows of Insta celebs in the seats are on hold and virtual shows are being planned. While this could be dreary, I think there is an opportunity for videographers, photographers and creative directors to wow us - and take a break from endless shows models heading down a catwalk with blank faces. Things will change. My hope for the industry is that creativity takes over and blasts some much needed beauty into our lives. In times like these, incredible images will give us reprieve of the view from our sofa. Let’s wish for a new era of ego free creatives, everybody grateful to be on a shoot, a reality check of how blessed we are to be in our industry and a stop to gossip and backstabbing on set. And with AI models already getting fashion campaigns, the model industry is also going to evolve. No more Naomi throwing phones, things will change.

While we are waiting to see what transpires, I have collected a few of the recent PLD - pre lock down - shoots currently in magazines.

Wishing you safety and blessings.
