The Marly in Camps Bay

The Marly in Camps Bay

The Chateau de Marly was the “leisure” palace for King Louis XIV where he escaped to in the country side for fun and frivolity and of course gourmet delights. The Marly Hotel in Camps Bay takes its name from this palace, and similarly offers guests a royal treatment.

The newly renovated hotel is just off the glamorous golden mile of Camps Bay. The position of the property is perfect. You can mingle with models, suntanned Europeans and the far too good looking and ridiculously fit locals on the street. Or spend the day on the beach, just by crossing the street. And the next moment, step into the private elevator back to the crisp white luxury of the hotel. “At The Marly, guests can have the best of both worlds – the chance to engage with the Camps Bay buzz and beach or retreat here and enjoy our decadent offerings and the peace and quiet”, says General Manager, Hannalie Greyling.

The hotel and spa has 38 suites each with a spectacular view, either of the sea or the Twelve Apostles Table Mountain. There is no such thing as the best side. One can never tire gazing at the mountain. For a view that will blow your mind, there is the 360 degree view from the pool deck and bar. Semi-submerged pool loungers and couches make this the perfect spot for drinks and cocktails, served by happy and chatty staff. That view alone should make the stay special. But The Marly offers so much. A spa that offers either a half and hour lift facial, perfect if you don’t want to waste precious holiday time but want an instant glow-or- if you have the luxury of time, full pampering and restorative treatments are available. The hotel also has a gym.

The endless choice of restaurants around the hotel is one more reason the hotel positioning is fantastic. There is La Belle for bistro fare and fresh pasties; Bilboa, the daily breakfast spot is open all day with a great beachfront view; the new Surfshack for seafood, burgers and pizza; and the well known fish restaurant Paranga. We had the seafood platter at Paranga, melt in the mouth good! And if you wish to have drinks and food on the beach, the hotel’s Beach Butler service will easily arrange it. Spoilt for choice.

Return from the buzz of the street, or the beach, not to mention all that Cape Town has to offer to the white calm of your suite to relax with Neflix or simply to be. Perfection!
