WEEF

WEEF

We love hearing how brands are born. The WEEF leather tie brand was born out of a need. Dévan Swanepoel was putting together his look for the Loeries in 2013, representing the ad agency he was working at. Everything worked together down to the hat, but something was missing. He wanted a brown leather tie, and could not find one. Eventually he had one made up. The leather tie to Dévan signifies old gentlemen’s values, of dressing well and respecting yourself. It harks back to Johnny Cash times. And in a time where fast fashion is becoming obsolete, having a leather tie is forever.

Dévan met Austrian Patrick Musil while working at a design studio, and they became close friends. Together they embarked on starting WEEF as a lifestyle brand. Like everything it has been a journey finding the right craftsmen, and eventually they bought their own machines. Now they supply the world, and spreading the word about timeless gentlemen’s dressing. Patrick runs the business from Austria, and Dévan from Cape Town. Their range includes skinny ties, bow ties, pocket squares. Weef has become very popular for grooms, a timeless addition to their wedding attire that becomes sentimental in value, yet can be worn again and again.
