Weylandts Steps Out From Behind the Furniture With The With
For Design Week 2026, Weylandts is stepping beyond the objects it creates and into the experience itself. The With, an intimate bar at 107 Castle Street in Cape Town, opens from 21 to 31 October and invites guests to gather around a simple idea: a bar that exists with people.
Designed by StudioLandt, the project is less a departure for the brand than a natural evolution. Since Edgar Weylandt opened the first store in Windhoek in 1964, Weylandts has championed a vision of good living rooted in connection: to people, place, nature and self. Over six decades, that philosophy has found expression through furniture, interiors, and spaces designed to bring people together. The With asks what happens when the brand itself joins the conversation.
A Preposition That Needs Something After It
The name is intentional. A preposition cannot stand alone. It requires something after it: a person, a place, a moment, a story.
The same is true of The With. The room remains incomplete until it is occupied. Only when people arrive, connect and share an experience does the space become whole.
To preserve that sense of intimacy, reservations are offered in two-hour sittings with limited seating throughout the bar's run.
When the Furniture Steps Into the Room
For Weylandts, the project provides a rare opportunity to witness its work in action.
“Our furniture has always lived in other people’s homes, which means we have rarely seen what happens around it,” says Anna Weylandt, who now leads the brand. “The With lets us be in the room for once. I hope people sit down next to someone they know, or someone they are about to meet, and leave feeling that good living is mostly about the company you keep.”
StudioLandt has created a space that celebrates gathering, conversation and craft. Cocktails take their names from iconic pieces within the Weylandts collection, paired with a menu of small plates. Drinks are served in partnership with Moët Hennessy.
