CABRIOLE, HERMÈS’ FIRST FRAGRANCE FOR CHILDREN

CABRIOLE, HERMÈS’ FIRST FRAGRANCE FOR CHILDREN

Ok I know what you are thinking- a fragrance for a baby. Ridiculous. But I have to confess, when I had my first baby I bought the baby BVLGARI fragrance, and I did not do it for him, babies smell so nice anyway, right? Well not after a long day, but after a bath. But there is this memory of smell, that brings back moments, for some reason you can still smell a person you loved long after they are gone, like a granny or a mom… and I memory of the smell of that baby fragrance triggers such many beautiful and tender memories for me. So I received this fragrance from Hermès and I transported back to the utter bliss of having a baby in my arms. And I do believe we must celebrate babies, and that small gap in time you have them in your arms. It is precious and fleeting and needs to be bottled. As they have.

This is what Hermès are saying about the fragrance: Perched on the back of their young horse, a small child sets off to explore the world. Clip-clop, clippety-clop, together they gambol in a cloud of enchantment as sweet as it is joyful. With somersaults, jumps and other acrobatics, they play and frolic in peals of laughter. From high on their horse, the child’s imagination gallops free, infused with a fragrance that, years later, will irresistibly awaken memories of their earliest wonders.

The cabriole, a codified figure in dressage, is also a child’s jump for joy. In its olfactory incarnation, it exemplifies the imaginary world of this adorable duo.

Created by Christine Nagel, director of creation and olfactory heritage for Hermès Parfums, Cabriole combines the velvety tenderness of Osmanthus and the delicate freshness of honeysuckle with the noble elegance of sandalwood in a composition that subtly evokes the apricot-like scent of a child’s cheek.

“I sought to create a comforting and highly distinctive scented water that signifies the bond between parent and child. I wanted to make a digression, a joyful leap towards a new proposal. Deliberately moving away from orange blossom, I used Osmanthus and honeysuckle to express in a different way the great fondness I feel for childhood, a time of fearless experimentation and insatiable curiosity. This eau de senteur is an invitation to prolong this state of mind, made of play and freedom, for as long as possible.” Christine Nagel

An ode to tenderness, this alcohol-free fragrance is suitable for children’s delicate skin. Their parents will recognise the house’s iconic lantern bottle, brought to life by Alice Charbin’s poetic and engaging illustrations. A first eau de senteur to enrich the Hermès fragrance family.
