DELPOZO Featuring Tilda Swinton
DELPOZO rebirths in full bloom under the creative and managing vision of new Co-CEOs & Co-Creative directors Joaquín Trías & Enrique Mellado with the unveiling of their first film, OBERTURA, starring Tilda Swinton.
The return of the celebrated Spanish Fashion House took the form of a film, introducing the new direction of the firm as “a hybrid model in between a Fashion Brand and an Entertainment Platform”.
OBERTURA (overture), DELPOZO’s new film, presents the new creative duo’s sensibility and the new codes that will lead the brand “Hopefully for many years to come”.
Academy award winner Tilda Swinton stars the film portraying The Gardenerette, a symbolic character embodying “the urge for life” that brings back to life the abandoned garden of the historic House of DELPOZO. “When thinking of the first thing that we wanted to present to the world we felt that we needed to go literal: the first seed, the massive effort, the primary bloom, the ectasis!” “Never in our wildest dreams could imagine that Tilda Swinton could portrait this meaningful moment for the House, it was a true gift, a blind show of trust. We cannot stop saying “thank you” to her and her caring and beautiful team”.
When filming in Madrid The room Next door by Pedro Almodóvar, the Scottish actress visited DELPOZO’s new studio, “Somehow, we ended up talking about gardens and gardening. A week after we asked her to bring back to life ours... She said yes!”
“OBERTURA became something new when Tilda joined the project, re-coding the story, making it more real, adding more layers of truth.” “She chose her favorite flower as the one she was about to bring to life. We needed for that very first bloom to come from the bottom of her soul. We get goosebumps each time that we see the little Sweet pea blooming in her face. Those immaterial details charges everything. That’s our understanding of true luxury”.
The immersive sound experience is signed by Olivier Arson, who treated Tilda Swinton’s voice as the main instrument for the composition. It features a poem written by DELPOZO’s creative directors conceived many years ago when their vision for DELPOZO was only an idea. “It felt special to share the thoughts hold on those words in a moment like this when it literally feels like everything is new”.
The film features a single custom look that evolves from a profound cold cotton navy blue to more than 300.000 custom made hand sown pink sequins with the shape of endemic flowers from the homelands of the creative duo and the original founder of the House, Jesús del Pozo. These flowers became the theme for the curated capsule collection that Moda Operandi launched in exclusivity alongside the release of the film.
Styled by Jerry Stafford, the silhouette featured in the film was worn by Tilda Swinton at the Venice International Film festival in communion with the launch of the Teaser of OBERTURA on September 2nd, “Once again, a gift from her to bless DELPOZO with her support in such a memorable moment as the press day of the film that took home the Golden Lyon”, ” There was something amusing on the fact that she gave a beautiful speech about “the necessity and inevitability of evolution” wearing the garment that represents the first glimpse of what is about to come on this new era of the House”.
The launch of OBERTURA sets the public kick off for the House which will present their SS25 collection during Paris Fashion Week in an exclusive Showroom by appointment only.
