Marking her first European hospitality project and debut in an alpine environment, American interior designer Kelly Wearstler brings her signature vision to the full redesign of L’Apogée Courchevel’s main dining spaces. Introduced in December 2025 under the Beefbar collection, the transformation unfolds across five distinct areas, united by an overarching design concept that marries raw elegance with the monumental forms of Brutalist architecture and the warmth of mountain living.
Wearstler’s philosophy is rooted in a deep appreciation for environment, history, and culture. For L’Apogée, she sought harmony with the dramatic forms and rugged topography of the French Alps, drawing cues from natural elements to create interiors that feel inseparable from the landscape itself. Inspired by monolithic and angular Brutalist forms, softened by alpine textures, she unites the spaces through a cohesive palette of earthy deep greens, charcoal tones, warm ochres, and garnet reds, layered with locally quarried near‑black stone, brushed alpine woods, and richly textured natural fabrics.
The Piano Lounge greets guests with a striking custom staircase and Brutalist‑inspired balustrades. Double‑height walls clad in muted pine with charred textures provide acoustics for the room’s centerpiece—a bespoke Edelweiss piano. The neighbouring Central Bar offers laid‑back luxury, anchored by vintage pine chairs and a monumental chandelier by Paris‑born designer Nathalie Ziegler, composed of blown glass pieces inspired by nature.
The Salon evokes late‑night glamour with low banquettes, mirrored ceilings, and ambient lighting that casts a soft glow, enhanced by floor‑to‑ceiling windows overlooking the Alps. Finally, the East and West Dining Rooms debut the Beefbar concept, each designed with distinct yet complementary palettes, lined with warm wood cladding and window banquettes framing the surrounding mountain landscape.
Wearstler enriched the interiors with vintage furniture designs and objets d’art sourced across Europe, infusing the spaces with character and provenance. The result is sculptural, soulful, and site‑specific—a dialogue between architecture, landscape, and hospitality.
Reflecting on the project, Wearstler remarked: “The French Alps provided a remarkable canvas for my first European hospitality project. I’ve long dreamed of creating a space in Europe, and it is truly special to pair this debut with my first alpine project, too. I’m so excited to bring my vision to L’Apogée Courchevel, crafting dining spaces that honor the strength and natural beauty of the Alps while offering warmth, intimacy, and a soulful sense of place.”
With this redesign, Kelly Wearstler redefines alpine luxury, blending monumental design with intimacy, and setting a new benchmark for hospitality in the French Alps.
