Cape Town, 4 August 2026. The bustling Kloof Street is soon to be the new home of the FYN Group's much-loved casual eatery, Ramenhead.

The popular Japanese street food concept first opened its doors on Parliament Street in 2022, and has since become a firm favourite among Cape Town foodies - known for their multi-day simmered bone broth, and house-made noodles pulled using the only Yamato Ramen Machine on the continent.

The move from Parliament to Kloof Street marks a new chapter for the brand's flagship - which also has a store at Time Out Market Cape Town - bringing Ramenhead into one of Cape Town's most energetic dining and nightlife strips.

"Kloof Street has this energy, it's alive, it's unpretentious, it moves fast, and that's exactly what Ramenhead has always been about. We built this concept on the idea that ramen should be serious about craft but never precious about it. This new space just gives that energy more room to breathe," comments Chef-owner Peter Tempelhoff.

The larger space builds on the concept the group's founders - Tempelhoff, Chef Ashley Moss, sommelier and service director Jennifer Hugé - and the Ramenhead team established at the original site.

In addition to the ramen, the new eatery will offer an expanded range of Japanese street food favourites, featuring a dedicated sushi counter, serving up made to order new edo-style sushi, which will sit on the menu alongside a host of fire-cooked izakaya dishes.

Chef Julia du Toit, who has led the Ramenhead kitchen since its opening and worked alongside Tempelhoff for the past 10 years, will lead the new venture as both executive chef and partner.

The courtyard of the restaurant will take shape in the form of a dedicated sake and cocktail bar, which will see a selection of the fine Japanese rice spirits served alongside Hugé’s creative and inspired cocktails.

The new store is set to open at 75 Kloof Street in spring, bringing the casual cool Japanese concept to the city's trendiest streets, with the multi-day process bone broth, house-made noodles, stellar cocktails, easy energy, and live-music nights that made Ramenhead a favourite, now paired with an even more enticing food and drinks experience.
