Thebe is the new name at The AZ Factory
BIG News For South Africa. When beloved Israeli designer Alber Elbaz tragically passed away last April of Covid, his brand, AZ Factory, was still in its infancy. Although the Richemont-backed label had only been around for a matter of months, Elbaz had already imbued it with a clear vision centered around sustainability, technology, and body positivity. Thankfully, AZ Factory is now staying true to these founding principles as it brings on its first collaboration.
Last month, an exhibition of the tribute collection “Love Brings Love,” which was showcased at this past Paris Fashion Week and featured contributions from 44 of the industry’s biggest designers, opened at the Palais Galliera in Paris. Along with this exhibition, AZ Factory announced that it would be inviting a constantly-changing series of designers, who they are referring to as “Amigos,” to create collections for the brand. Up first was the 28-year old Johannesburg-based designer and recent LVMH prize winner Thebe Magugu.
We stand in awe and wonders watching this star rise!
