TUDOR : Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee”

The Bumblebee Takes Flight

Bright yellow, born to dare

Who says a chronograph can’t be bright yellow? In the TUDOR Daring Watches collection, rules are rewritten. The new Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee” arrives with a domed dial in vivid yellow, framed by contrasting black sub‑counters, housed in a 39mm stainless steel case that wears phenomenally at just 13.1mm thin. Inside beats the Manufacture Calibre MT5813 — column‑wheel construction, vertical clutch, silicon balance spring, and a 70‑hour power reserve — ensuring reliability and smooth operation.

Snowflake hands, redesigned for sub‑dial legibility, mark the dial with Grade A Swiss Super‑LumiNova®. Pushers feature a new knurling pattern — MK2, the purists might say — while a new three‑link bracelet with smooth sides and the TUDOR “T‑fit” rapid adjustment clasp completes the package. Will the Bumblebee save the world? Perhaps not. But it will certainly save your wrist from anything less daring.

The Spirit of Asphalt and Sea

Remaining faithful to the Black Bay aesthetic, the Bumblebee fuses TUDOR’s chronograph heritage with its professional diver DNA. Inspired by the 1970 Oysterdate — the brand’s first chronograph tied to motorsports — and refined through decades of innovation, the Bumblebee embodies both asphalt and sea. Its fixed bezel in stainless steel, with tachymetric scale in black anodised aluminium, underscores its sporting pedigree.

Steel Bracelet with “T‑fit” Clasp

The new three‑link bracelet offers instant adjustment within an 8mm window, requiring no tools. Ceramic ball bearings ensure smooth closure, adding tactile pleasure to function.

The Manufacture Calibre MT5813

Derived from Breitling’s B01 but re‑engineered by TUDOR, the MT5813 is COSC‑certified, exceeding standards with a daily variation of -2/+4 seconds. Its tungsten rotor, sand‑blasted bridges, and laser‑decorated mainplate reflect the brand’s commitment to precision and finish.

Five Decades of Chronographs

From the Oysterdate of 1970 to the bright yellow “Tiger” of the 1990s, TUDOR has consistently dared to innovate. The Bumblebee continues this lineage, proving that colour and performance can coexist in horological tradition.

The TUDOR Manufacture

At Le Locle, Switzerland, TUDOR’s state‑of‑the‑art Manufacture integrates design, testing, and production. With Kenissi and affiliated facilities, the brand now fully masters the development of high‑performance calibres, guaranteeing quality at every stage.

Born to Dare

Since 2017, TUDOR’s Born to Dare campaign has celebrated extraordinary individuals who push boundaries. The Bumblebee, with its audacious dial and uncompromising calibre, is a testament to that spirit — a chronograph that dares to be bright, bold, and unforgettable.
